About the photo:
Royal Roads University College - Victoria, BC (July/2001)

In Jim's words, "a fabulous garden and one of Victoria's best-kept secrets, for some reason!"

Here it is, alive with hot colours in early summer. The impressive spikes of yellow Torch Lilies (Kniphofia) strike the first flame, fanned by fiery scarlet lilies and mounds of bright-orange annual Calendula.
Hot colours are not to everyone's liking, but when used together and in a lavish way they can create a bold garden statement that soft mauves and pastel shades could not possibly achieve.

Jim Perceval owns Garden Creations Inc., specializing in perennial garden design and maintenance in the Greater Victoria, BC region.
